Daisy Flower Petals

What is the purple flower I found?

It grows on a near by college campus in Texas and since I can't put up a picture I will do my best to describe it. It grows on a vine on the ground and looks like a purple sea anemone. I believe it is a tri-layer flower with what resemble daisy petals in the back, anemone squiggles in the middle and a tongue that is white. It's a very beautiful flower and unique to say the least. I just have no clue what it is. Please help me discover its identity and if you can send a link to an online picture. Thanks!
