It seems very unlikely to find a 1 ct stone, even a low quality one for that price. You mentioned it's a 2 stone ring... is it a 1/2 ct center with two 1/4 cts on each side? If so, that's a little more likely, but I would be concerned still with the price under $2,000-$2500.

Do you know the clarity, color, and size? Also, keep in mind if it has a certification, and if so, what type. A GIA cert is best. An EGL is good, but not as good (or as valuable) as a GIA. Either way, never buy a diamond without certification of authenticity. You'll never know what you are walking away with! Look through a loop when at the jeweler and see the inside of the diamonds up close so you can see if there is a lot of yellow and/or black spots in it.
